This recipe holds a special place in my heart as it is my grandmother’s. We always made these for Christmas morning to enjoy as we opened stockings.
Sweet Roll Dough
First make my Grandma’s Sweet Roll Dough. This dough takes some time, but the soft, pillowy texture of the rolls is worth it. This recipe is perfect for weekend baking or for special occasion breakfasts. Find the recipe here!

Roll out into a 12″ x 18″ rectangle.
Orange Filling
Mix softened butter, sugar and grated orange rind until smooth. Spread over the dough evenly and dot with fresh cranberries. Starting with the long edge facing you, roll up the dough. Then, using a sharp knife, cut into 12 equal pieces. I like to cut the very ends off for looks, but it’s not necessary.[/et_pb_text][el_masonry_gallery image_ids=”909,908″ number_of_columns=”2″ _builder_version=”4.17.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/el_masonry_gallery][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.17.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]You can bake these rolls in a 9″x13″ baking dish or a large cup muffin tin. Make sure to butter whichever one you choose to use and add the cut rolls. Pour cream over the rolls evenly and cover to raise for the final time. The cream is optional, but will help keep the rolls soft while they bake.[/et_pb_text][el_masonry_gallery image_ids=”907,906″ number_of_columns=”2″ _builder_version=”4.17.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/el_masonry_gallery][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.17.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]
Once the final rise is over bake for 20 – 25 minutes until the tops are golden brown.
Vanilla Orange Glaze
This Vanilla Orange Glaze is so good you’ll have a hard time not sneaking spoonfuls right to your mouth!
Soften the cream cheese and butter and add to a medium bowl with powdered sugar, orange juice, grated orange rind and vanilla. Beat, using a hand mixer, until light and fluffy.
Once the rolls have cooled just a bit, top with Vanilla Orange Glaze and serve warm!
What special breakfast do you serve on holiday mornings?
