Materials

  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 2 packages Yeast
  • 3 tablespoons Butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 4 cups Flour divided

Instructions

  • Scald milk in a heavy bottomed pan over medium heat. Once you see bubbles form on the bottom of the pan, remove from heat. Add to a small bowl and cool milk to 105 – 115 degrees. Add yeast to warm milk and stir to combine. Next add the butter and salt and stir until the butter has melted.
  • In a large bowl, beat eggs slightly and then mix in the sugar. Add the milk and yeast mixture to the large bowl and stir to combine. Add 1 cup of flour and mix well. Cover with a kitchen towel and allow to raise in a warm location for 1 – 2 hours, until bubbly and doubled.
  • Remove cover and add remaining flour. Stir in the flour with a spoon until you can handle the dough. Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 8 – 10 minutes, until the dough is soft and easy to handle. Cover with a towel or plastic wrap and allow to raise in a warm place for an additional 1 – 2 hours, until doubled. If using plastic wrap, make sure to oil lightly to prevent sticking.
  • Now the dough is ready to use for Cinnamon Rolls, Orange Rolls, Caramel Rolls or even Monkey Bread!
